Mr. Carlos Hix Johnson, age 78, of Statesville Road, North Wilkesboro died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Monday 3:00 PM, October 19, 2009 at Cricket Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Rector, Rev. Chuck Call and Mr. Daniel Sluder officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30. Entombment will be at Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Sunday evening from 6 until 8.
Mr. Johnson was born July 10, 1931 in Wilkes County to William Edward and Julie Mae Combs Johnson. Before retiring he ran his own landscaping and excavating business. Mr. Johnson was a member of Cricket Baptist Church.
He is survived by: his wife, Betty Jean Royal Johnson of the home; two sisters, Hazel Prevette and husband, Dewey, Annie Lou Brown and husband, Eugene both of North Wilkesboro; two brothers, Howard Johnson and wife, Anita of Purlear, Dwight Johnson and wife, Daphne of Mocksville; several nieces and nephews and godfather of Kimberly Sluder and Derrick Call.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ashe County Worship Center, 863 Ray Taylor Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694, Cricket Baptist Church, 126 Oakley Drive, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659 or to Hospice of Wilkes, 1908 West Park Drive, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
