MRS. BERTHA MAE BLACKBURN

Mrs. Bertha Mae Waugh Blackburn, age 92, of New Walkertown Road, Winston-Salem, widow of Harold Blackburn died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Springwood Care Center in Winston-Salem.

Funeral services will be held 1:00, Tuesday, July 20, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel. Burial will be in the Waugh Family Cemetery. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service.

Mrs. Blackburn was born in Wilkes County, May 9, 1918, to John William and Fannie Paulina Watkins Waugh.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Blackburn was preceded in death by a sister, Pansy Waugh Mitchell and brothers, John Palmer Waugh, Guy W. Waugh, Laymon Vecue Waugh, Vernon Eugene Waugh, Carlson Waugh.

Mrs. Blackburn is survived two sisters, Grace Dean Gilreath of Wilkesboro and Iris Perez of Berkley, CA; two brothers, Thomas G. Waugh and wife, Ruby of Oakland, CA and Warner Waugh of Philadelphia, PA; special niece, Billie M. Matthews of Winston-Salem; special nephew, Harvey Mitchell of San Jose, CA; a host of relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem, 1100-C South Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
